A wee study for the big painting. I spend a lot of time travelling around Scotland, drawing and painting. This painting is from a layby near Stirling looking across the hills. I was fascinated by the shape of the cloud, it reminded me of the cloud paintings by William Turner. I’ve tried to catch the magnificence of the cloud. This study was based on a drawing done on the day.
