Estuary – Painting

This is one of the first paintings that I made when I returned to full-time painting in 2016. It is one of only two artworks that didn’t sell out of my first solo show “Caught Light” at the Grouse and Claret. It’s been on loan for several years has recently come back into the studio. As much as I’ve liked having in the studio for the last few months, I’m now offering it for sale.

The painting is from a fishing trip several years ago. We’d been fishing a tiny loch up in the hills and were walking back to where we were staying. It was late summer and the light had disappeared, and as we came over the hill, we could see the estuary with the village on the far side of it. It’s a very happy memory.
